Emilia Lujan is the creator of the extraordinary community that is the MyVeganDaily project in which vegans and non-vegans can come together to take the next step in leaving a positive mark on the world.
Compassion has always been an essential part of my life. Helping those around me and putting their needs before my own is instinctive to me. My mother instilled in me the wisdom that our duty as humans is to leave a positive mark on the world and help all who are in need. The lessons I learned while growing up inspired me to dream big.
Later on in life, I enrolled at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, to pursue studies in public Relations and Advertising. My career decision, however, led me to a pivotal realization— why would I want to represent a multimillion-dollar company when they are responsible for so much of the destruction in the world? I realized that success is measured by the positivity and happiness one brings to those around me and the world, not by the size of one’s wallet. So I decided to put my knowledge, energy, and efforts into doing something good for the world.
I soon discovered vegetarianism thanks to the documentary, Food Inc., which also opened my eyes to how destructive humans can be to their surroundings – and, what is worse, that we are doing almost nothing to minimize the destruction! I became a novice animal rights activist while also developing an interest in environmental issues. After earning my BA, I discovered the wonderful world of veganism. I was in shock as I saw how our culture and society normalized this awful practice of consuming animal products. This was when I knew I was going to be a huge advocate for veganism.
I decided to move to New York City, the city that I knew would help me figure out what my path should be. I began pursuing my Master’s degree at The New School of Public Engagement, and it was after about a year of exploring the vegan culture of the city that I conceived and began the MyVeganDaily project to inspire others to live a more sustainable and compassionate life. I subsequently completed my Master’s degree, received certification in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University, and moved to Florida.
Today, I continue enthusiastically growing MyVeganDaily, offering my services and resources to vegans and non-vegans, helping them build a better planet.
